Casino City’s Friday Five: Slot contests, poker and pool season edition

11 Mar 2022

By Dan Ippolito
Just last week, Las Vegas saw a little bit of snow but now the weather is getting back into the 70s and the resorts are adjusting. The pool season is ready for guests in Las Vegas to enjoy as it gets warmer outside in Sin City. In addition to poolside fun, we also have a jackpot from the Strip, an online slot contest, an upcoming poker tournament and online betting growth in the U.S.

Let’s begin with a six-figure win:

5. Bally’s Las Vegas pays out $145,610 jackpot
On 6 March, Denise Brewer from Arvada, Colorado hit a Three Card Poker progressive jackpot at Bally's - Las Vegas Hotel & Casino for $145,610.

Brewer scored the Major Progressive with a straight flush and plans to use the winnings to pay off her student loans.

4. Everygame Casino hosts $240,000 Spring Bonus Contest
Everygame Casino Red is celebrating the arrival of spring with a $240,000 casino bonus contest.

During the Spring Fortune contest, players will compete for $30,000 in weekly prizes. Everygame Casino players earn points when they play casino games and every week until 2 May, 300 players with the most points will win bonuses up to $500 each. The weekly top 20 will be entered in a final draw for a $1,000 cash prize.

With St. Patrick's Day next week, the online casino is also giving 50 bonus spins on Lucky 6, one of the casino's favorite leprechaun slots.

Lucky 6 is a six-reel game. Leprechauns, pots of gold, horseshoes and shamrocks spin on its six reels along with the letters of the game's name which are Scatters that trigger bonus spins with extra grouped wilds and 5x win multiplier. The Pot of Gold symbol also becomes wild during bonus spins.

3. Las Vegas casino resorts gearing up for pool season
With a wide variety of high-energy day life experiences and tranquil retreats, Las Vegas offers visitors abundant opportunities to soak up the sun poolside.

Here are some pools to consider hitting during your Las Vegas stay:

LIQUID Pool Lounge at Aria Resort & Casino offers an adults-only pool experience with cabana, bungalow, and daybed rentals, in addition to a menu of cocktails and food offerings. The retreat will also feature some of the hottest DJs behind the booth throughout the season, opening 11 March.

Encore Beach Club, now open at Wynn Las Vegas, is a tiered, three-pool venue, complete with cabanas and daybeds allowing guests to enjoy the scene in total comfort. Bungalows offer a private bathroom, infinity dipping pool, cooling system, and a view of the Strip from a private balcony.

Influence, the POOL at The LINQ Hotel + Experience, now open, provides an escape with views of the High Roller Observation Wheel and The LINQ Promenade for anyone 21 and older. It also offers life-sized games and tables for beer pong, plus a menu of food and cocktails.

2. TWiG: Online betting set for growth in America
This week's gambling video focuses on the expected growth of betting online in the U.S., and, in particular, the expansion of regulated internet casino games.

Just two months after the record breaking launch of mobile sports betting, the expansion of New York betting online via casino games is being proposed in new legislation.

The political force behind the bill which regulated mobile sports bets, State Senator Joseph Addabbo, is now pushing a new bill seeking to do the same for betting online at casinos. However, unlike the somewhat absurd tax rate of 51% imposed on mobile sports books, web based casinos would only be taxed at 25%.

If New York online gambling is authorized, they could easily become the most profitable state overnight, just as they did with mobile sports betting. Lawmakers are also eager to help economic recovery from the pandemic, and this could help speed that process along.
