Casino City’s Friday Five: Openings, fines, and prediction markets edition

31 Oct 2025

By Dan Ippolito
Trump Media made the announcement that Truth Social is set to become the first social media platform to offer prediction markets. In other news this week, we have a Germany casino property opening, a poker tourney returning to Mohegan Sun, several Florida jackpots, and a massive fine from the Netherlands.

Let’s begin with some six-figure jackpots:

5. Three players win big at Seminole Casino Hotel
Three Southwest Florida residents hit it big in October at Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee, with their jackpots combining for a total of $434,733.

On 11 October, a player from Naples won $123,550 on a Money Link slot machine with a $20 bet. On 12 October, a Fort Myers resident scored a jackpot of $165,067.18 on a Dragon Link slot machine with a $5 bet. Then, on 21 October, another Naples resident took home $146,116.29 on a Quick Hit Platinum slot machine.

4. Mohegan Sun Fall Showdown Tournament returns
Mohegan Sun’s annual Fall Showdown Tournament will take place from 19-22 November.

This no limit Texas Hold’em poker tournament at the Connecticut casino has a $100,000 guarantee with a pay structure that awards the top 12%. The buy-in is $600 and participants will begin with 30,000 in chips with an option to purchase a 5,000 chip dealer add-on for $10.

On-site registration will take place in the Mohegan Sun Poker Room one hour before the start of each flight and will remain open until the beginning of level nine.

3. Ksa issues €2.65 million fine
The Netherlands Gambling Authority fined BetEnt for failing to adequately protect young adults from excessive gambling and gambling addiction.

Gambling companies have a duty of care and must protect players as much as possible from excessive gambling and gambling addiction. According to the Ksa, BetEnt had not sufficiently fulfilled this duty of care and will therefore be fined €2,650,000.

The Ksa launched an investigation after reports of large losses suffered by young adults. This investigation examined a selection of 10 of the player files with the largest losses, finding violations in all of them. These involved young adult players (aged 18 to 23) who gambled away tens of thousands of euros, often in a relatively short period of time.

2. Novomatic celebrates grand opening of Spielbank Rostock
The Spielbank Rostock officially opened its doors on 16 October with a celebration that marked a new chapter for entertainment in northern Germany.

As the only casino in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to combine classic table games and modern electronic gaming, Spielbank Rostock offers a premium gaming experience.

Guests can enjoy four roulette tables, two blackjack and two poker tables, as well as a modern gaming floor of more than 1,300 square meters featuring around 130 electronic gaming terminals.

1. Trump Media enters prediction markets via Crytpo.com
Trump Media and Technology Group, operator of the social media platform Truth Social, announced that it will make prediction markets available on Truth Social through an exclusive arrangement with Crypto.com.

Truth Social users will be able to trade prediction contracts related to major events and milestones, such as political elections, interest and inflation rate changes, commodity prices on gold and crude oil, events across all major sports leagues, and more using the new product technology called “Truth Predict.”

Prices will update in real-time, allowing users to react instantly to developments in major current events. Truth Social and Truth+ users who have Truth gems, which are earned for interacting on the platforms, will be able to convert their gems into the Cronos digital currency and apply them to purchases of Truth Predict contracts.

The deal highlights President Trump’s growing ties to prediction markets. Donald Trump Jr. advises both Kalshi and Polymarket, while his firm, 1789 Capital, has invested in Polymarket.
