Casino City’s Friday Five: Online casino contest edition

11 Oct 2019

Not having to worry about price when booking a trip would be nice, wouldn’t it? Well, BitStarz is getting into the Halloween spirit by sending the winner of its latest contest to Transylvania. Other news this week includes a major jackpot win in Las Vegas, Intertops giving away weekly prizes, three sportsbook openings in Iowa and the completion of a massive expansion to a Hard Rock casino property in Florida.

Let’s begin with some jackpot news:

5. Las Vegas casino awards $930,000 payday
Stopping by a casino doesn’t usually end up with the person leaving with nearly $1 million in winnings. However, for a Hawaiian resident last week it did.

The lucky winner hit Main Street Station Casino Brewery and Hotel in Las Vegas to play the Madonna slot game by Aristocrat. The grand jackpot was awarded after landing four Madonna symbols, paying out $931,640.

The player wasn’t even completely aware of how big the win was. She originally told a slot attendant that she thought she had won just over $9,000. The attendant proceeded to inform her of how fortunate she was.

4. Witch’s Riches contest at Intertops Casino Red
Intertops Casino Red has begun a $120,000 casino bonus contest for Halloween.

Guests who play at the online casino will earn points for doing so, and each Monday until 4 November, the players with the most points will win up to $500. There will also be a random draw from all the weekly winners for a cash prize of $1,000.

“Every week 300 players win bonuses for their points,” said Intertops Casino’s manager. “But lots more win random draws on Thursday. If you’ve played even a little that week, you’re automatically entered.”

3. BitStarz is sending a player to Transylvania
Halloween Quest at BitStarz has arrived. If you are looking to be sent on a trip for two to Transylvania, then you have to be the first person to reach level 40.

That winner will get a six-night stay, but other players can still win prizes. There will be over €50,000 in individual prize pools and BitStarz merchandise. The more levels you pass through, the more of the €50,000 you unlock.

If you are not already a BitStarz player, you can still sign up, receive 20 free spins for creating an account and enter the Halloween Quest contest.

2. Three Wild Rose casinos open sportsbooks
DraftKings has teamed up with Wild Rose to open three sportsbooks at each of the Wild Rose Casino & Resort locations in Jefferson, Emmetsburg and Clinton, Iowa. Each location will be outfitted with betting kiosks and large video walls.

"Football season is in full swing, and it’s the perfect time to bring our retail sports betting experience to Iowa,” said Tim Dent, Chief Compliance Officer at DraftKings. “Our retail locations allow fans to have an exceptional in-person experience with our product and we are proud to show off our industry-leading technological prowess in each of the three locations. Iowa sports fans are in for a great time.”

Sports bettors in Iowa will be able to place bets on all major U.S. sports, including the NFL and college football, Major League Baseball, NBA and college basketball, NHL, golf and auto racing seven days a week.

Fans will not be able place player proposition wagers on games involving an Iowa university or college, including opponents of Iowa schools.

1. Seminole Hard Rock Tampa completes $700 million expansion
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa officially unveiled its highly anticipated $700 million expansion last week following the brand’s signature Guitar Smash and a high wire walk by the “King of the High Wire,” Nik Wallenda. The Guitar Smash and hotel towers high wire walk kicked off a weekend-long celebration.

The renovation includes a new, 14-story hotel tower, offering 562 additional hotel rooms and suites; three ultra-lavish pools; and a 26,000-square-foot Rock Spa & Salon equipped with 13 treatment rooms, including a Rhythm & Motion room, Hammam Ritual room, two VIP suites, a hair and nail salon, barbershop and co-ed aqua lounge.

The completed 223,900-square-foot casino includes an additional 1,000 slots and 41 table games throughout its new gaming spaces, bringing the completed gaming experience to nearly 5,000 slots, 179 tables and a poker room with 46 poker tables.

“Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa is already one of the largest and most profitable casinos in the United States,” said Jim Allen, Hard Rock International Chairman and CEO of Seminole Gaming. “The expansion will increase entertainment and dining options, and help us attract guests from throughout the country and around the world."
