4. MGM Resorts to sell operations of MGM Northfield Park
Earlier this week, MGM Resorts International announced that it has closed on the sale of the operations of MGM Northfield Park to private equity funds managed by Clairvest Group for $546 million.
"MGM Northfield Park is a market-leading property supported by a talented team that has consistently delivered outstanding guest experiences," said Bill Hornbuckle, CEO & President, MGM Resorts International. "The property has a strong foundation, and we extend our best wishes to the team and new ownership for continued success in the next chapter of the property's evolution."
3. Baltic Bet fined by Lithuanian regulator
The Lithuanian Gaming Supervisory Authority imposed a fine of €468,350 on UAB Baltic Bet, which manages the Optibet trademark, for improperly verifying the origin of client funds.
The investigation was conducted after receiving information that a person had lost a large amount of money in several companies, including UAB Baltic Bet.
The inspection by the LPT found that UAB Baltic Bet did not comply with the requirement of the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing to collect information about the client and the origin of their funds allocated for gambling before allowing gambling.
Gambling organizers are also required to monitor the behavior of customers and ensure that the amounts they bet correspond to the specified sources of funds. UAB Baltic Bet did not have sufficient information about the client's sources of funds, and therefore could not properly monitor his gambling and identify suspicious transactions.
2. Caesars to assume control of SuperBook operations
Caesars Entertainment is set to take over sportsbook operations at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, pending regulatory approval, marking a major shift for one of the city's most recognizable betting venues.
Under the partnership, the legendary sportsbook will operate as the Westgate SuperBook, powered by Caesars Sportsbook. With a planned transition prior to football season, Caesars will oversee race and sportsbook operations and technology, expanding wagering options and access while preserving the identity that has defined the SuperBook for decades. The Westgate Las Vegas SuperContest franchise will remain an integral part of the SuperBook experience.
As part of the enhanced experience, sports fans will enjoy Same Game Parlays, expanded parlay offerings, and live in-play wagering across a wide range of professional and collegiate sports, both in-person and on the Caesars Sportsbook app. Additionally, Caesars Sportsbook will introduce self-service betting kiosks inside the SuperBook and throughout the resort.
