Casino City’s Friday Five: January promotions and entertainment edition
Already, there have been some huge jackpots won at popular casino destinations.
Let’s start by taking a look at a couple feel-good jackpot wins.
5. Unemployed Reno man wins $888,000 jackpot playing penny slots
A down-on-his-luck Reno man, who has been mostly unemployed for the past 15 years, had a sudden change of fortune when he won a jackpot of $888,585.03 playing penny slots at Atlantis Casino Resort & Spa in Reno, Nevada. Lawrence Fuller won the jackpot after making a $1.80 bet on a penny slot machine. Fuller has been largely out of work for the past 15 years, except for landscape jobs here and there.
He had been playing for just 20 minutes when he hit the jackpot at 1:52 a.m. on Sunday. Amazingly, since then, he has won eight additional jackpots all on Atlantis slot machines, giving him a grand total of $903,646. His jackpots have been confirmed to be legitimate, all with low average bets.
Fuller calls his wins "life changing" and says he plans to save his money in the bank until he decides what to do with it. The machine he was playing is the Super Lucky Times Pay machine and is a progressive machine that started at $1,000 some 12 years ago.
While this is one of the largest jackpots on a penny slot machine in the last decade, large jackpots are common at Atlantis. In 2017, a guest won nearly $2 million in Keno and in 2014, a guest won close to $4 million on a Wheel of Fortune slot machine.
This win is the latest in a string of jackpots at Atlantis over the recent weeks. On 1 January, Nancy K. won $34,955.26 playing Money Madness and on 28 December, Cyrus Brad Miller won $25,000 playing Bad Beat.
One Reno man is feeling pretty lucky this new year. He won more than $888,000 on a $1.80 bet on the penny slots! And his winnings didn't stop there...

4. Table Mountain Casino awards jackpot of over $129,000
"Happy New Year!" said Jeff as he was paid Table Mountain Casino's random Massive Cash Jackpot, which had just reached $129,520.56. Jeff and his wife made the short drive from their hometown of nearby Reedley to celebrate her birthday in winning style and winning style it was.
When asked what he planned to do with this life-changing jackpot, Jeff said he's going to buy a new car.
Massive Cash is a Player's Club favorite that pays out anywhere from $50,000 to $150,000 and is found only on the slot machines at Central California's Table Mountain Casino. When the Massive Cash jackpot is awarded, the meter immediately resets to $50,000 and continues to climb back up to $150,000 or until the next Massive Cash jackpot hits.
Rob Goslin, Table Mountain Casino President and General Manager, said, "Our team members and guests were so excited when Massive Cash hit. Congratulations to Jeff from all of us here at Table Mountain Casino. This is winning!"
Congratulations to Jeff of #Reedley for being our first Massive Cash Jackpot WINNER of 2020! He won $129,520.56 simply for using his Club Card on our slot machines. YOU could be next! #ThisIsWinning #MassiveCash #TableMountainCasino #Casino #Friant #Fresno #Clovis #Madera pic.twitter.com/3PdVVYPZhK
