2. MGM Yonkers withdraws commercial casino license application in New York
MGM Yonkers, a subsidiary of MGM Resorts International, withdrew its commercial casino license application to the New York Gaming Commission and the Gaming Facility Location Board.
A portion of the official statement is below:
"Today, MGM Resorts made the difficult decision to withdraw its application for a commercial casino license in Yonkers, New York. Since submitting our application in June, the competitive and economic assumptions underpinning our application have shifted, altering our return expectations on the proposed $2.3 billion investment.”
1. Two jackpots over $200,000 hit on same day at Seminole Classic Casino
While MGM Yonkers pulled out of the race, Resorts World Las Vegas is very much still in it.
Resorts World New York City submitted its supplemental application to the New York State Gaming Facility Location Board, reaffirming its position as a strong contender for a full commercial casino license.
Among the competitors vying for up to three downstate gaming licenses, a fully permitted Resorts World New York City stands alone in its readiness to scale operations and start generating benefits for the city and state starting with a 29 June 2026 opening date – at least four years before two other bidders (Mets owner Steve Cohen and Bally’s) are predicting to open their doors.
We’ve submitted our $7.5 billion supplemental application to the #NewYorkState #Gaming Facility Location Board!
