4. Governor Lamont announces opening of Evolution Gaming studio in Connecticut
Governor Ned Lamont announced earlier this week that Evolution, a live casino operator for digital platforms, began operating in Connecticut.
Evolution began operations with a seven-day soft launch on Monday, 11 July. Evolution is providing live dealer games on both the FanDuel and DraftKings Casino platforms offered in Connecticut.
During the soft launch, only blackjack and roulette tables are available to a limited number of participants. The soft launch will transition into the full launch at 11 a.m. on Monday, 18 July, pending the resolution of any issues discovered in the soft launch.
“With the addition of Evolution, we are continuing to provide a modern, technologically advanced gaming experience that provides an elevated user experience for eligible residents and is competitive with our neighboring states,” Governor Lamont said.
3. Silverton Casino to reimagine 300-room hotel
In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Silverton Casino Hotel in Las Vegas announced it is undergoing a complete reimagining of its hotel offering.
The remodeled hotel will feature 300 guest rooms and suites including three distinct "design stories," each with its own curated style, decor and spirit.
To prepare for the extensive renovation, the hotel and adjacent Sway pool deck will be out of service beginning in early August and scheduled to reopen in early 2023. The entire resort – including the casino, restaurants, aquarium, Veil Pavilion, Johnny Rockets, Starbucks, and Bass Pro Shops – will remain open during the hotel and pool renovation.
"This is more than a room remodel," said Silverton CEO Craig Cavileer. "This was an opportunity to creatively reinvent our entire hotel operation in Las Vegas. While we are keeping aspects of our lodge theme that our guests have enjoyed over the years, our new rooms and suites will envelop our guests in a new spirit of rustic elegance, providing a unique Las Vegas hotel experience."
2. New sportsbook and WSOP room coming to Harrah’s New Orleans
On Monday, Caesars Entertainment announced that both the new Caesars Sportsbook and World Series of Poker Room at Harrah's New Orleans Casino are scheduled to open this fall. The openings are part of the ongoing $325 million transformation of Harrah's New Orleans into Caesars New Orleans.
The 5,700-square-foot sportsbook features four betting windows, 12 self-service betting kiosks, and a spectacular video and audio system. The sportsbook will be located next to the largest poker room in Louisiana, a 5,000-square-foot space boasting 20 poker tables and complimentary table-side beverages.
In addition to seating for 140 patrons, the sportsbook will also feature a multi-display Fan Cave with a private viewing experience for up to 10 people, and a bar to accommodate 28 more sports fans.
The newly-designed poker room will offer several varieties of live poker. The competition will heat up on Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays when weekly poker tournaments will be held. The room will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.
