Canada: Lottery winners give winnings away

NOVA SCOTIA, Canada -- A retired couple who won over $11 million earlier this year have given 98 percent of it away, according to the Toronto Star.

Violet and Allen Large made a list of charities and community based organizations they felt could use financial help, the report said.

Violet, 78, recently finished chemotherapy for ovarian cancer and the couple declared the fact they had each other meant far more to them any amount of money, The Toronto Star reported.

There has been international interest in their story and acclaim for their generous gesture.
