Bryan Slick announces 2016 WCOOP schedule

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Bryan Slick, Senior Manager of Online Championships for PokerStars.com has announced the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) schedule on the PokerStars Blog (following extensive feedback from the playing community). There are several changes for 2016 in this year's $50 million+ guaranteed series, which will, for the first time, have a companion series – Mini-WCOOP – making the festival more accessible to players of all levels. Bryan also discusses why there will be no Second Chance tournaments to run alongside the series and the reason that PokerStars has decided to retire the WCOOP bracelet.

Sunday, Sept. 4: Event 03: $1,050 NL Hold'em [Marathon Event - Four-Day Event], Max Re-Entries: 5
Sunday, Sept. 11 - Event 28: $102,000 NL Hold'em [8-Max, Super High-Roller], Max Re-Entries: 1
Sunday, Sept. 25 - Event 78: $5,000 NL Hold'em Main Event - $1.5M Gtd to Champion!, Max Re-Entries: 1

The World Championship Main Event has a huge $10,000,000 guarantee and $1.5 million guarantee for the winner. Just two events remain to be confirmed: Players' Choice events, which will cost $215 to play and will be voted on within the PokerStars client (further details can be found within the blog post). Both are scheduled for Sept. 17.

The WCOOP 2016 Leader Board will have more than $70,000 of prizes to give away, including one 'Ultimate Bahamas Experience' that will go to the WCOOP Leader Board Champion. The package includes a $5,000+ Main Event entry in Nassau, return Business Class flights for two people, a luxury suite stay for two people at the Cove Tower at the Atlantis resort with room credit, limo pick-up, and VIP treatment throughout.
