British Columbia Lottery Commission nets $1.63 billion

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The British Columbia Lottery Commission (BCLC) delivered a record-breaking net income of $1.636 billion last fiscal year, of which $1.624 billion was delivered to the Province of B.C. and $12 million to the federal government, as outlined in its 2022/23 Annual Service Plan Report, which can be viewed at https://corporate.bclc.com/content/dam/bclccorporate/reports/annual-reports/2023/Annual-Report-2022-23.pdf.

The increase in net income is due in part to the opening of the new Cascades Casino Delta, Lotto 6/49 game enhancements, continued high Lotto Max jackpot roll patterns and the expansion of PlayNow.com to a third Canadian province.

Fiscal year 2022/23 exceeds the previous net-income record set in fiscal year 2018/19 by $220 million.

BCLC is required to disclose annually all compensation provided to the CEO and the next four highest paid executives. Under the Gaming Control Act BCLC’s mandate is to conduct and manage commercial gambling on behalf of the provincial government. BCLC is the only legal provider of commercial gambling in B.C.
