Borgata Hotel Casino wins Property of the Year award
9 Oct 2018
This honor caps an already historic year for Borgata. Celebrating its 15th year of operations, the unparalleled East Coast resort continues to raise the bar in Atlantic City years after its momentous debut, offering guests an electrifying summer season of the biggest names in entertainment, exclusive culinary experiences, and unique casino promotions and special events.
In June, Borgata made history, becoming the first Atlantic City casino to accept legal sports wagers under New Jersey's new sports betting law, which followed a U.S. Supreme Court ruling in May that struck down a federal ban on sports wagering.
"Congratulations to the team at Borgata for this remarkable achievement. This award is a testament to Borgata's world-class offerings and showcases MGM Resorts' leadership in markets throughout the United States and around the world," said Jim Murren, Chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International. "We are committed to being the industry leader in every market in which we operate, and we look forward to creating new, innovative and groundbreaking opportunities in New Jersey and nationwide."
Fifteen years after blazing a trail as a leading entertainment destination, Borgata continued the tradition this summer with a line-up of world-class artists and events, including performances by Britney Spears, Cher, Barry Manilow, Jerry Seinfeld, Dave Chappelle, Camila Cabello, and Ringo Starr, as well as a full calendar of Savor Borgata Culinary Series events featuring exclusive celebrity-chef hosted dinners and tasting events and an outdoor food festival.
Marcus Glover, President and Chief Operating Officer for Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa said, "This award is welcome validation of the hard work contributed by every member of our Borgata team as we celebrate 15 years of leadership and innovation in Atlantic City. Since entering the market in 2003, Borgata has made it our mission to grow and invest in not only our property and product, but in our team members and guests; offering an unrivaled experience to anyone who walks through our doors."
The Global Gaming Awards are powered by Gambling Insider and presented to the industry in association with the Global Gaming Expo (G2E). The global contest recognizes land-based and digital businesses for their achievements in the gaming industry over the previous year.
"Borgata is a stalwart of the Atlantic City Market. To have Borgata and MGM here with us is an absolute honor and a sign of the stature of these awards," said David Cook, Editor of Gambling Insider. "It's great to see Borgata and MGM victorious here today."
Winners of the award categories were selected by a committee of 60 judges spanning the spectrum of the global gaming industry. Each category contained a list of 10 finalists with tabulations conducted by KPMG Gibraltar to ensure accuracy and transparency.
