Bookmakers to Face Court Over Radon Testing
CO KERRY, IRELAND -- As reported by RTE: "RTÉ News has established that Paddy Power's bookmakers in Co Clare is one of the companies to be prosecuted by Ireland's nuclear watchdog for failing to test for the cancer-causing gas, radon.
"Paddy Power said that the company would apologise to the court next month.
"The company said it would tell the court the problem arose as a result of a communication from the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland not being sent to Paddy Power's head office.
"...This will be the first time the RPII has taken such action and follows instructions to companies in high-risk areas to protect their employees.
"It is estimated that up to 200 people die each year from lung cancer caused by radon..."
