18 Aug 2008

(PRESS RELEASE) -- History was made on Sunday night at Bodoglife.com when the online poker powerhouse hosted its $250,000 Guaranteed Online Poker Tournament, the largest guaranteed prize pool tournament in Bodog history. On hand to battle for a share of the massive prize pool were 816 online poker players, all of whom were getting exceptional value for their tournament dollars.

By tournament's end, a total of 135 players finished in the money, but it was "KILL_BILL" of Germany, who walked away with the lion's share by claiming victory and the tournament's $56,600 first-place prize.

"We'd like to congratulate 'KILL_BILL' for his win against such a talent-rich field that included some of the biggest names from across the online poker world. We have a feeling we'll be seeing him back atop the leaderboard soon," said Morris Mohawk Gaming Group CEO Alwyn Morris. "We're thrilled by the large number of online players who came out on Sunday to be a part of Bodog history. Many of these players took advantage of our daily satellites and were able to play for the $250,000 prize purse for as little as a dollar."

Among the big names competing in Sunday's tournament were Bodog Poker pros Evelyn Ng and Jean-Robert Bellande, noted online poker pro Eric "rizen" Lynch, Bodog Poker Open champion Shawn "phatcat" Luman and Team Bodog Poker players Magnus "magpe" Petersson, Jose "head2782" Severino, Ari "BodogAri" Engel and Smith "nevertilt22" Collins.

The results from the final table, in order of finish, were as follows: "KILL_BILL" (1st - $56,600), "jobless23" (2nd - $31,400), "DrDankRx23" (3rd - $21,750), Mark "dipthrong" Helm (4th - $16,875), "Hongboy" (5th - $13,625), "CrewRepresent" (6th - $10,500), "Hunterare" (7th - $7,750), "StonecoldMS" (8th - $5,250) and "TakeEmOut" (9th - $3,000).

With this history-making event in the books, Bodog online players can now turn their attention to the World Series of Poker Europe*. Online qualifiers for this year's main event in London are running daily at Bodoglife.com with buy-ins as low as $1. The qualifiers all lead up to the Two Seats Guaranteed Euro Main Event Semifinal on Sept. 7, where players will compete for a seat to the championship event, plus roundtrip airfare, high-end car service to and from the airport, luxury hotel accommodations, spending money and exclusive Team Bodog player gear and apparel. Each VIP Prize Package is valued at $24,000.

At the inaugural main event last September, Bodog online qualifier Matt McCullough of Cherry Hill, N.J., earned the distinction of being the last American standing when he finished third out of a field of 623 players. The impressive finish saw McCullough returning home from London $766,674 richer.
