BetWWTS.com Invites Bet from Bernard Hopkins
In his 2001 middleweight title unification fight versus Felix Trinidad, Hopkins placed a $100,000 bet on himself to win the match, which he won by TKO in the final round ending Trinidad's professional unbeaten streak. Then just last December "The Executioner" bet his opponent William Joppy $50,000 that he'd knock him out during their 12-round championship bout, which Hopkins failed to do although he dominated the fight winning a unanimous decision.
"Not many professional boxers have demonstrated enough confidence in their own abilities to bet $100,000 on themselves in a championship fight versus an unbeaten opponent as dangerous as Felix Trinidad, but Bernard Hopkins truly believes in his abilities and is willing to put his money where his mouth is," said Simon Noble, CEO of BetWWTS.com. "Knowing that Hopkins has placed bets on himself in previous major championship matches, BetWWTS.com is offering to take a wager to win $100,000 from Hopkins on himself versus Oscar De La Hoya in their September bout."
Currently, BetWWTS.com lists Hopkins as an overwhelming favorite to beat De La Hoya at 2/5 odds (i.e., win $2 for every $5 bet). The company lists "The Golden Boy's" chances of defeating "The Executioner" at 7/4 odds and has calculated the odds of a draw in the title match at 18/1.
BetWWTS.com is publicly traded on the Australian Stock Exchange as part of the BetCorp (BCL) group of companies and recorded $12.5 million in EBITDA for 2003. BetWWTS.com also accepted in excess of $650 million in wagers last year.
