Betting advice for a lucky roller
Dear Frank:
I'm hoping for some direction from you. I'm on the east coast like you and play at Atlantic City.
I'm actually a tournament poker player mostly at the Borgata casino. When I'm done with poker I play craps as a way to relax and wind down.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered I can roll for up to 45 minutes at a time. I did it three times in the same day, two of them back to back. Once at the Borgata and two times at the Taj. The crew working the table at the Taj were amazed at that feat. I had two guys I remember, one was down $600 and finished up $2,500, the other guy finished with between $10,000 and $12,000 when I was done.
I also had two dealers intentionally break my concentration, one changed my dice when one fell off the table after I requested the same ones back. The Taj was great about letting me roll. They never messed with me at all.
So in order to make sure I didn't just have an incredible run of luck I went to the Mohegan Sun the next week to see if I could repeat what I did in AC and I did it again after a couple of attempts. I don't know how long I lasted but it was 20 rolls. A guy that was next to me counted them as I went along. I guess he was doing the 5-Count; he's the one who told me I'm a rhythmic roller.
The second dealer to mess with me was there at the Sun. He stuck his arm right in front of me when I was in the motion of throwing the dice and broke my concentration.
Now, the reason I'm writing you is because I need help betting, through all that I did, I finished up $200 and I know I can do WAYYYY better than that if I bet right.
Thank you for taking the time to read my e-mail.
I hope to hear from you.
Jo
Dear Jo:
I don't want to break your bubble but if you are just throwing the dice or winging the dice down the table, you are having a run of good luck. If you are taking your time and throwing the same way each time, it is possible that you might have some control over the dice.
Some dealers do things that might break your concentration. Most often these things are not done on purpose. They are done because the dealer is bored or not concentrating. Put up a tip on the pass line for them and you'll see that it is rare they will be bored then. Take care of them and they usually take care of you.
Make pass line with odds and come bets with odds and that is it. On other shooters use the 5-Count and bet as low as you can go. This is the best advice I can give you. By betting as I suggest you are cutting the house edge to its lowest. Don't have more than three bets at a single time, at least until you are well in the money!
