6 Jul 2015
Record-breaking match
The Women’s World Cup was played in Vancouver, Canada, late last night CEST. Starting the goal bonanza was Carli Lloyd, delivering a hat trick during the first 16 minutes of the game. This is also the first time that a player has scored a hat trick in a Women’s World Cup Final. A total of seven goals, 5 for the US team and 2 for the Japanese team, ensured a hefty payout by Betsafe for the Pink Ribbon Foundation.
The World Cup final set the following records:
—New donation record following a Women´s World Cup final (€70,000 Betsafe)
—First women in the history of the World Cup to score a hat trick in the final (Lloyd)
—First American player to score four straight goals in the World Cup games (Lloyd)
—Record for the most goals scored during the Women’s World Cup final (7 goals)
"We didn’t exactly picture this scenario, but we loved every minute of the game. Whenever it’s for a good cause like this, its extra joyful to open our wallets," says Taylor.
"#daretosupport" is coming to an end
Betsafe has over the last few weeks challenged women of the world to upload a photo of their pink sports-bra in support of women with breast cancer. For every photo on Instagram with the hashtag #daretosupport, Betsafe will donate €1 to the Pink Ribbon Foundation.
"Women around the world can still participate. We are closing the initiative today at 24:00 CEST, so there is plenty of time to hurt our wallets even further," says Taylor.
