Betfair sending players to WSOP Europe

15 Aug 2007

By Ryan McLane

Betfair Poker is sending players to the inaugural World Series of Poker Europe by offering online satellites to the London event for as little as $3.15.

Guaranteed $23,000 WSOPE package tournaments are running every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at Betfair. Players can qualify for these weekly tournaments by competing in various step-tournaments.

Betfair is also offering a wide range of sit-n-go tournaments with $23,000 prizes.

WSOPE will begin on Sept. 6 and consists of three events - a $5,000 H.O.R.S.E. tournament, a $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha tournament and a $20,000 Main Event that is capped at 750 players. There are still seats available.

All tournament winners will receive the customary WSOP gold bracelet.

"I'm going to London to make history again by winning the first WSOP bracelet ever awarded outside of Las Vegas," said 11-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth.

Hellmuth is not the only big-name professional scheduled to play in London. Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, Roland de Wolfe, John Juanda, Allen Cunningham, Todd Brunson, Eli Elezra, Howard Lederer, Humberto Brenes and Jennifer Harman are already pre-registered for the tournaments.

"There are over 60 WSOP bracelets between the pre-registrants so far," WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack. "The inaugural World Series Europe will have a world-class field."
