Betbright sponsors Kempton Park Chase
12 Feb 2014
The BetBright Chase, one of the most prestigious handicap chases on the National Hunt calendar, will be run at Kempton Park on Saturday 22 February with £100,000 of prize money up for grabs.
The event was first established in 1988 and there have been some fantastic winners over the years, with Docklands Express (1991 and 1992) and Nacarat (2008 and 2012) the only horses to win it twice.
This year’s renewal has attracted a quality entry with Captain Chris, a winner at the course last month, potentially set to carry top weight. His trainer Philip Hobbs has won the race a record four times and has another five possible runners, including Menorah, Planet Of Sound and Wishfull Thinking.
BetBright’s current joint-favourites are Nicky Henderson’s Hadrian’s Approach and Willie Mullins’ On His Own, both available at 12/1. Next in is Paul Nicholls Bury Parade at 13/1, while Henderson’s Hennessy Gold Cup winner Triolo D’Alene is a 14/1 chance.
BetBright will also be sponsoring two other live Channel 4 races, the BetBright.com Adonis Juvenile Novices’ Hurdle – one of the key trials for the JCB Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham – and the BetBright Mobile Pendil Novices’ Chase, which has incredibly been won by Paul Nicholls seven times in the last eight years.
Brian Farrell, Marketing Director, BetBright, said: “The BetBright Chase is one of the top handicaps of the jumps season and we are delighted to be sponsoring it. Some fantastic horses have won the race over the years and there are some top class entries this year.
“We are planning a big promotion for the race, which we will be announcing a few days before, so watch this space!”
Tony Langenegger, London Region Sponsorship Manager, The Jockey Club, added: “We are very pleased to announce that BetBright will be the new sponsors for a number of races on Saturday, 22nd February including the feature race, The BetBright Chase.
“The BetBright Chase has received a number of top quality entries at the initial entry stage from both domestic and Irish trainers which should result in a high class renewal to mark this inaugural partnership.”
