Beau Rivage to host Banfi Wine dinner
25 Apr 2019
Banfi, one of North America’s top wine importers for the last 30 years, will feature wines from three of its leading wineries in the Banfi collection, including Tuscany’s most honored vineyard estate, Castello Banfi, as well as Banfi Piemonte and Banfi Tuscany. Castello Banfi vineyards estate has been named five-time International Winery of the Year and 13-time Italian Winery of the Year at the International Enological Concourse in Verona. Wine Enthusiast Magazine has named Castello Banfi its European Winery of the Year, and its Brunellos have consistently ranked in the annual top 10 pick by editors of Wine Spectator, whose readers have selected it as “Wine of the Year.”
Lauded for groundbreaking research on the Sangiovese vine to produce superior Brunello and super Tuscan wines; producing healthy, more organic wines that are low in sulfites and histamines; and developing cutting edge winemaking techniques, Castello Banfi is the first winery in the world to be awarded international recognition for exceptional environmental, ethical and social responsibility as well as an international leader in customer satisfaction.
At Banfi Piemonte, skilled winemakers produce the exceptional sparkling wine “Rosa Regale” Brachetto d’Acqui D.O.C.G., from the La Rosa single vineyard. The Principessa Gavia Gavi estate was established by the Mariani family around the same time as Vigne Regali (known today as Banfi Piemonte). This single vineyard is dedicated exclusively to the cultivation of the Cortese di Gavi grape, the sole white grape used to make the prized still wine Principessa Gavia.
“Banfi is a family-owned company that was founded in 1919 and has grown to 32 wineries throughout Italy,” Beau Rivage Director of Beverage Harry Hall said. “Today, Banfi ranks among the world’s most prestigious wine houses and is one of the leading wine importers in America. Through its wine estates in Italy, Banfi has the reputation for producing award-winning premium wines that rival the finest offerings in the world. Dr. John Mariani, Jr., who is now Banfi’s Chairman Emeritus, was awarded Wine Enthusiast’s Lifetime Achievement Award recognizing his influential role in the wine industry.”
Antonio Molesini, a native of Cortona, Italy, and brand ambassador for Banfi, will host the dinner. He spent summers at his family’s vineyard in the Ventao Region, where he learned and fell in love with fine grapes and grappa. He learned the liquor business from the inside out at Bologna Brothers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, after he was “brought home as a souvenir” from his wife’s experience studying abroad in Italy. From there, he became an Italian Wine Specialist, where he enjoys sharing his enthusiasm, knowledge, Italian heritage and, naturally, “buon vino.”
Five specially selected wines from the Banfi Vineyards will be paired with a six-course dinner from 6-9:30 p.m. in Stalla. Reservations for the evening are $125 per person and include tax and gratuity. Please call 1.888.567.7469 or visit Beau Rivage online for reservations. Must be 21 to attend.
