The government received the report four months ago, which contained recommendations to counter the dangers of pokie machines, ABC said.
The Productivity Commission recommended a $1 per bet limit on pokies and that gamblers have a mechanism to set limits on time and spending before they sit down, ABC reported.
The government today announced a plan to set up a committee to analyse the recommendations which provoked criticism from the opposition who insist no further talk is needed, while the gambling industry is concerned that any such implementation would be highly costly, ABC reported.
