Atlantic City Report: Remote Betting Could Bring in Jobs, Patrons

ATLANTIC CITY – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "Remote casino wagering could generate between 1,100 and 3,600 Atlantic City casino jobs and between $368.8 million and $1.1 billion in annual gaming revenue, according to a report prepared for a remote-wagering company.

"`Live wagering from remote locations does more than create a new source of revenue for sponsoring casinos. Additionally, it creates a marketing opportunity, a means to cultivate thousands of new customers who can be encouraged to become on-site patrons,' Michael Pollock, a gaming-industry publisher and analyst, said in a report commissioned by Las Vegas-based i2corp.com, creator of the Home Gambling Network.

"The patented network would allow gamblers, via the Internet, to place wagers with a live dealer working on the gaming floor of a casino.

"A New Jersey bill to allow such a system went nowhere.

"…Just as VCRs haven't hurt movie attendance and television and radio haven't dented baseball attendance, Pollock said, remote wagering wouldn't discourage gamblers from visiting casinos…"
