Atlantic City casinos celebrating Lunar New Year
17 Jan 2012
As an organization, Caesars Entertainment has a long and celebrated history of providing its guests with Asian themed events, shows, and offerings throughout the calendar year. Lunar New Year is viewed as one of the most important Asian holidays. The day itself represents great joy and good fortune, so beginning on Saturday, January 28th at 2pm, on the Boardwalk in front of the Showboat Atlantic City, Caesars Entertainment Eastern Division President Don Marrandino will kick off the festivities by “Waking the Lion”, a tradition that is generally used to spread good fortune to all.
“Caesars Entertainment is excited to celebrate the beautiful traditions and cultural richness of Asia here in Atlantic City with the 4th Annual Lunar New Year,” said Steve Hann, Vice President of Casino Marketing for Caesars Entertainment Atlantic City. “These spectacular performances, as well as our signature events truly open Atlantic City to a world of new magnificent treasures perfectly fitting the Year of the Dragon.”
Following the Waking the Lion ceremony, the Boardwalk parade features special performances, marching bands, lion dances, floats and Shaolin Kung-Fu displays. The parade starts on the Showboat Boardwalk and continues until the Caesars Boardwalk, at which point it heads inside Caesars Atlantic City and Bally's Atlantic City - Wild Wild West Casino - Claridge Casino. Additionally, free gifts and Caesars Asian Market coupons will be distributed to those attending, but quantities are limited so guests are urged to come early.
The Palladium Ballroom at Caesars will replicate miniature versions of Chinatown to embrace the magnificence of Asian culture during this holiday season. Complete with a wide selection of merchants offering traditional Asian goods such as Jade jewelry and teas, this Asian Market festival brings the beautiful treasures of Asia to Atlantic City. Furthermore, food will be available for purchase, and include such Asian delights as Peking Duck Spring Rolls, Shrimp Lo Mien, Chicken Satays, Crispy stuffed Crab Claws, as well as fan favorite KWI’s Rocket Rolls. The Chinese Market Place will be open from 4pm to midnight and is sure to please every guest. While Bill’s Bar and Burger at Harrah's Resort Atlantic City will pay tribute to Lunar New Year by adding a Spicy Dragon Burger, featuring avocado and a special firey ketchup as well as a homemade Moon Pie, but both will only be available for Saturday, January 28th.
