Ask Larry: House Advantage with Multiple Odds
Hi, Larry,
Many of the casino advantage tables provide percentages for casinos with single or double odds. But more and more casinos, especially in the Midwest, are allowing up to 5x or 10x odds. I would assume that your casino advantage would be even better than 2x odds (which is at .6 percent). But do you know by how much?
Thanks, Jeff
Hi, Jeff,
Here are the casino advantages for the different odds that are offered on the pass line- no odds - 1.41% 1X - .85% 2X - 0.61% 3X - 0.47% 5X - 0.33% 10X - 0.18%.
Good luck, Larry
I read in John Patrick's book that he always places 6 or 8 even if one is the point. I thought you could not place a number if it is the point?
Best Regards, Mike
Hi, Mike,
Yes, you can place the number after it becomes the point. This is called a "put bet." You lose out on the ability to add odds but you can remove it whenever you want.
Good luck, Larry
Dear Larry,
In a recent article you referenced casinos that comp on the "spread" and some comp only on "individual bet". Is there information available on which casinos comp on the "spread"?
Thanks, REC
Hi, Rec,
You will need to call your favorite casinos and ask if they rate you according to bet or spread. Some casinos change their policies constantly so you need to call them right before you go. Call them on their toll free number and ask for a casino host or someone in the craps pit.
Good luck, Larry
