Ask Frank: The 5-Count
Hello Frank,
I have a question that that sounds so stupid I am almost embarrassed to ask. I just read and reread Beat the Craps Out of the Casinos and there is a point about the 5-Count that I am not clear about.
Do the five successful rolls need to be consecutive? In other words, if the shooter makes four good roles but the fifth is no good, does the count just get interrupted or does it go back to one and start all over again?
Thanks for your help. I am thoroughly enjoying the book and looking forward to putting it into action at Foxwoods.
Thanks again,
John
Hi, John,
Yours is a good question. The 5-Count starts with a point number and ends with a point number. However, after the 4th roll, if the next roll is not a point number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10) but one of the other numbers (except the 7, obviously), then you are on the 4-Count and holding. So let's go through it step by step:
Shooter on the come-out: | Roll is 11 | = 0-Count |
Shooter on the come-out: | Roll is 7 | = 0-Count |
Shooter on the come-out: | Roll is 4 | = 1-Count |
Roll is 12 | = 2-Count | |
Roll is 8 | = 3-Count | |
Roll is 6 | = 4-Count | |
Roll is 2 | = 4-Count and HOLDING
Roll is 11 | = 4-Count and HOLDING
Roll is 6 | = 5-Count |
I am attaching a sheet on the 5-Count that we give out to our students in the Golden Touch Craps Seminars. I am also attaching information about Frank Scoblete's Gamblers Jamboree at the Gold Strike Casino in Tunica on November 14, 15, and 16, 2003. Most of the Golden Touch instructors will be there teaching dice control and you might consider coming down.
I am also giving you a free-month trial membership in our members-only site, The Craps Club (www.thecrapsclub.com). You'll find tremendous information on our site about craps.
Feel free to post any questions you have on The Craps Club site. There are 500 members, all lovers of the great game of craps.
All the best in and out of the casinos!
