Ask Frank: Playing the Don't at Craps
Hi, Frank,
I'm pretty new to playing craps and don't get to play much. But I do read and reread your books before I go play.
I was wondering if it's a good idea to play the don't side if the table is cold and then when the table heats up, to go back and play "normally". By normal, I mean pass line bet with odds and placing the 6 or 8. I was reading your Guerrilla Gambling book this morning and was thinking about trying that. Would playing this way hurt me too much if I stuck with the 5 count?
Thanks and keep up the great work,
Jeff
Dear Jeff,
The house will have its edge on your don't bets, no matter when you use them. I think you are much better off just waiting for the 5-Count. You will eliminate about 57% of the shooters and the other 43% you'll play. In that other 43% will be all the really long rolls. You'll be saving yourself a lot of money by playing this way.
All the best in and out of the casinos!
