Arlington Park President Leaves

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Churchill Downs Incorporated (NASDAQ: CHDN) today announced that Clifford C. Goodrich will leave his position as president of Arlington Park, the Company's racetrack in Arlington Heights, Ill., in order to pursue other professional and personal interests. Goodrich's last day at Arlington will be Jan. 6, 2006.

Goodrich joined Arlington Park in December 2002 as executive vice president before assuming the role of president of the track and senior vice president in change of CDI's Illinois Operations, including eight Trackside Off-Track Betting locations in the Chicago area, in March 2003. Before joining CDI, Goodrich served as chief executive officer of the California Thoroughbred Horsemen's Foundation Inc. and, prior to that, was president and chief operating officer of Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif.

"I have greatly enjoyed my time at Arlington Park and will miss working with the fantastic team of employees here," said Goodrich. "Their hard work, dedication and commitment to first-class customer service have produced positive results and an exceptional on-track experience for our guests. Having had the opportunity to lead the Arlington team these last three years has been one of the highlights of my long career in horse racing.

"I have, though, reached a point in my professional life where I am ready to focus my energies on other priorities, including my family and our first grandchild. Consequently, the time is right for me to return to my West Coast roots. Arlington Park has a very capable management team in place that will continue to guide America's premier showplace for Thoroughbred racing towards future success. My absolute confidence in their ability has made it easier to turn the page and begin the next chapter of my professional and personal life."
