Arizona Lottery's $6.7 Million The Pick jackpot claimed

29 Apr 2013

PHOENIX, Arizona -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Arizona Lottery announces that the winner of the $6.7 million The Pick jackpot from the drawing on April 20 has come forward. This is the game's largest jackpot since April 2010.

Terry and Cheri Westergard of Glendale were on their way home from a restaurant when they stopped at the Circle K located at 5049 W. Peoria Ave. in Glendale to purchase ice. As Cheri got out of the car, Terry said, "You might as well get a Pick and a Powerball® ticket while you're there." They checked their numbers in the newspaper the next morning and discovered they held the one and only winning The Pick ticket.

"It was a thrill for our staff to present the highest The Pick jackpot check in three years to such a nice couple," said Karen Bach, director of budget, products, and communications for the Arizona Lottery. "The Pick is Arizona's own jackpot game, so it is especially exciting to have a big winner."

The Westergards elected to take the cash option of $4,502,356.40.

Just last week alone, there were more than 22,000 winners of The Pick in Arizona.
Since the jackpot started rolling on Nov. 4, 2012 until the draw on April 20, there were more than $3.3 million in prizes won.

The Pick costs $1 per ticket, and players choose six numbers, 1 through 44. Players win a prize for matching a minimum of three numbers. Ticket sales stop at 9:30 p.m. the night of the draw. Players can check the winning numbers by visiting ArizonaLottery.com.

Arizona Lottery players must be 21 years or older to purchase or redeem tickets. Overall odds vary by game. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, these materials may be made available in an alternate format. Gambling problem? 1.800. NEXT STEP. Please Play Responsiblyâ„¢.
