Are you an April fool?

1 Apr 2014

By Frank Scoblete
Are you an April fool? It is now April 1st, April Fool’s Day and many people are making fun of or having a laugh with their friends and/or relatives over some silly something or other, as in “I gotcha! April Fools!”

But as a serious casino gambler are you – that’s right, y-o-u – an April fool? Usually a gambler who is an April fool will be a January through December fool as well.

I scoured the Internet to see how much gambling information is relayed by April Fools and I found quite a few totally idiotic statements made by individuals who might be serious about their unfounded claims, or scammers looking to bilk hopeful but unsuspecting gamblers of their money, or assorted dopes and ploppies of the lowest rank putting forth those gambling systems which don’t work, which have never worked and that they have used to lose themselves money.

So here are a few ideas brought to you by some true April fools:

APRIL FOOL’S IDEAS CRAPS:

When you come to a craps table where a random game is being played, check out what happened in the past to see if the table is “hot,” “cold” or “choppy.”

OR ask the dealers or other players if you haven’t been watching the table as to the characteristics of that table because tables maintain such past characteristics.

IF they say the table is “hot” then play at that table even though it “was” hot in the past as opposed to “is” hot in the present. No gambling decisions take place in the present, only in the past.

OR if they say the craps table is “cold” play the Don’t on that table because “frigid” tables will stay frigid.

OR if they say that a certain number has hit a lot then play that number as it has a better chance of continuing to come up in the future.

OR don’t play the “hot” number because it is going to get “cold” because it has come up so often; so choose any other number since cooling off is inevitable.

OR only use Place bets rather than Come bets because even though mathematically Place bets are far, far worse than Come bets with odds the Place bets are actually better if you use insightful logic based on the continued losing of money over the years.

OR hedge your bets by using other bets that usually have higher house edges and ultimately make you lose more money because your logic makes you believe that hedge betting will save you money.

OR just have fun and throw chips all over the place, making every possible kind of bet, high house edges, ultra high house edges, who cares? If you win you know that Lady Luck was with you and you should take pride in that and brag about your win.

APRIL FOOL’S IDEAS ROULETTE:

If you notice on the scoreboard that certain numbers have come up more than once, then bet on those numbers.

AND do not waste money on the outside “even-money” bets because they only pay even money despite the fact that some casinos will give you back half your bet should the 0 or 00 hit.

OR bet numbers that have not shown because they are due.

APRIL FOOL’S IDEAS BACCARAT, MINI BACCARAT AND MIDI BACCARAT:

If you notice one of the propositions (Bank or Player) hitting in succession, bet that proposition.

OR bet against that proposition because it has to get “cold.”

OR carefully check to see if the Tie bet has come up a lot and bet that even though it has a 14 percent house edge.

OR bet the Tie if it has not come up recently because it is due.

APRIL FOOL’S IDEAS AT BLACKJACK:

Never double against a 7, 8, 9 or 10 valued card if you have an 11 or against a 7, 8, 9 if you have a 10. These 7, 8, 9 and 10 are considered “powerful” cards and are hard to beat.

AND only double when the dealer has a 6 or less showing as those are “weak” cards.

AND never split aces even though doing so will save you money.

AND never split 8s even though this will also save you money.

AND be aware that the dealer probably has a 10-valued card in the hole even though the 10-values make up just 31 percent of a deck.

AND if you have won several hands in a row you are “hot” and you should raise your bet.

OR if you have lost several hands in a row increase your bet as a win is due.

AND if another player makes a wrong decision at the table it can screw up the winning order of the cards about to come out of the shoe even though no one knows what the order of those cards are.

If you believe any of the above ideas then I have only four words for you, “Enjoy April Fool’s Day.”
