Amateur players make ActionPoker.com final table
LONDON, England -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Six amateur poker players have beat out thousands of online competitors to make the final table of the ActionPoker.com $500,000 Poker Shoot-Out. They will be representing their countries and their card rooms December 1st in London, England. This is the largest prize ActionPoker.com has awarded since it's inception in 1999.
Online poker has experienced tremendous growth in the last three years with amateur players regularly winning thousands of dollars playing from home and frequently going on to win major tournaments.
The players at the Poker Shoot-Outs final table range in age from 23 to 69 years old and come from as far away as El Salvador. There will be two players representing Finland, one playing for the UK and two from Canada. All six players qualified through an on-line satellite tournament. As a "Freeroll," this tournament required no entry fee.
On top of bragging rights for their country and the title "International Man of Action," the first place winner will take home $200,000 US with the runners up sharing in another $170,000. This can be a life changing event for the players and they are already getting a taste of the good life. ActionPoker.com is putting the players up in central London and ushering them around the city in limousines.
This will be the first time many of the players have played for high stakes live and they will have the added pressure of playing in front of the TV cameras. The tournament will be recorded live and televised in the spring on SKY Cable's PokerZone channel. All the poker action will also be available a few weeks following the live event at ActionPoker.com.
