Alabama: 11 arrested in FBI electronic bingo legislation probe

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- In a major probe four Alabama legislators have been charged in a vote-buying scheme related to electronic bingo expansion, Reuters reported.

In total eleven people were charged, this included three lobbyists and two businessmen, who it is suspected bribed lawmakers in relation to the electronic bingo legislation vote, Reuters said.

The scheme was described at a news conference as "astonishing in scope" and there are eight different criminal charges related to it, including bribery, extortion and money laundering, the Reuters report quoted.
