Akwesasne Mohawk Casino expansion under way

"This $75 million investment by the St. Regis Mohawk tribe is the first of a two-phase plan to meet customer demand for additional games, dining and accommodations, said Leslie Logan, director of public information for the Tribal Council.
"The largest piece of the project will be construction of an eight-story, 220-room hotel on the casino grounds, creating the first guest quarters owned and operated by the Mohawks.
"The Tribal Council expects between 270 and 275 people will be hired during the expansion.
"...Phase 1 involves the renovation of the former gift shop on the east side of the casino, where some of the 1,000 new slots will be placed..."
