A recap of the opening week of 2026 WSOP

The first week of the 2026 WSOP was highlighted by the unveiling of the new WSOP Main Event Final Table set, along with one lucky poker player winning the $1 million mystery bounty in the $550 Mini Mystery Bounty gold bracelet event. Entering week two, tournament players now fully settled in Sin City get ready for the summer grind.

$1M Bounty Winner: Andrew Shelton (Sacramento, California, USA)

Prize: $1,000,000

Key Storyline: Off of just one bullet in the $550 NLH Mini Mystery Millions, recreational poker player Andrew Shelton won the lone $1 million mystery bounty deep into Day 2.

Event #2: $5,000 8-Handed No-Limit Hold’em

Winner: Daniyal Gheba (Las Vegas, Nevada, USA)

Prize: $502,985

Key Storyline: Daniyal Gheba wins the very first bracelet awarded at the 2026 WSOP.

Event #3: $500 Industry Employees No-Limit Hold'em

Winner: Jerome Neppl (Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA)

II. UPCOMING SCHEDULE & KEY EVENTS

June 1, 2026: Event #11 — $10,000 GGMillion$ No-Limit Hold'em High Roller

Significance: At $10,000 per entry, the multi-flight, GGPoker-branded event has already drawn a competitive field, with more set to enter during Flight B.

June 3, 2026: Event #18 — $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Monster Stack

Significance: A popular tournament with a structure featured at the WSOP and WSOP Circuit offers 4 day one flights.

Media Note: The Monster Stack will likely draw large fields for day one flights, so keep in mind when the tournament goes on break.

June 3, 2026: Event #19 — $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller

Significance: The first “high roller” tournament of the summer is sure to draw a tough field of some of poker’s best players.
