2007 WSOP details to be released this month
In October, 2006, Harrah's announced the 2007 WSOP would begin on June 1 with the Main Event final table schedule to kick off on July 17.
But other event details have not been announced, putting many players looking to schedule summer Las Vegas accommodations on standby.
"There have to be some logistics worked out and that will take a few more weeks," said Nolan Dalla, Media Director for the World Series of Poker. "You (players) can expect something by mid to late part of this month."
Dalla said WSOP officials are still ironing out the exact number of tournaments hosted this summer at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino.
"There may be quite an increase," Dalla said. "There is also a possibility that the number will increase by just a few."
Harrah's sale to two private-equity firms has nothing to do with the delay, Dalla says. Business "continues as usual," Dalla added.
The WSOP will begin much earlier than last year's tournaments to avoid television conflicts with post-season major league baseball, WSOP spokesperson Gary Thompson said.
Players can expect the entire tournament series to be completed by the end of July.
