200 Gaming Manufacturers Receive Latest SuperSAS Protocol

19 May 2005

RENO, Nevada – (PRESS RELEASE) -- IGT, a subsidiary of International Game Technology (NYSE: IGT), announced today that it has released the latest version of the SuperSAS gaming machine protocol to more than 200 gaming manufacturers worldwide. The new version of SuperSAS is the first industry-wide open standard protocol to incorporate both download and remote configuration capabilities.

"Download and remote configuration are the backbone of Server Based Gaming, which is the next great technology leap for gaming machines," said Ali Saffari, senior vice president of engineering. "We've drawn upon 18 years of protocol development expertise, including contributions from the entire community of gaming manufacturers and regulators, and we've combined it with the latest standard networking and security technologies to create a single solution for all gaming machines and systems."

SuperSAS is based on an efficient transport protocol running over a high- speed network. In addition to downloading and remote configuration, SuperSAS covers all of the features currently found on casino floors including Accounting, Advanced Funds Transfer, Bonusing, Player Tracking, and Ticketing. "SuperSAS will continue to lead casino floor gaming development into the future," Saffari added.

Besides the SuperSAS protocol specifications, IGT will also release reference source code for the SuperSAS transport layer, as well as SuperSAS protocol simulators which will be available free of charge to all SuperSAS licensees under their current SAS licenses. It will greatly reduce SuperSAS implementation time and costs for all gaming machine and gaming system manufacturers and application developers.

IGT will provide details of the SuperSAS protocol at the Slot Manager Institute at the Green Valley Ranch in Las Vegas on May 24. The SAS and SuperSAS protocols are available to all manufacturers at no cost. Additional information on the SAS and SuperSAS protocols is available at IGT's web site.
