$3.5 million sports bet accepted at Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort

2 Oct 2019

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale placed a $3.5 million bet on the Houston Astros to win the 2019 World Series at DraftKings at Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort Sportsbook today. If Houston wins the World Series, McIngvale will collect $11.2 million. This is the largest single bet in Mississippi Sportsbook history.

Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale made national headlines in recent days on his desire to place the wager, and no other gaming company sportsbook in the world has come forward to accept the bet. “This is the greatest casino and sportsbook in the country,” Said McIngvale. “They play the most action.” McIngvale is originally from Starkville, MS. He currently owns Houston-based Gallery Furniture.

“We have made sports betting history here today,” said Scarlet Pearl CEO LuAnn Pappas. “This is the business we’re in, and we’re honored that we were chosen for this wager. Providing an unparalleled customer experience is the driving force behind everything we do at Scarlet Pearl.”

“This wager is a momentous milestone, both for Mississippi sportsbooks and the greater sports betting industry collectively,” said Matt Kalish, CRO and co-founder of DraftKings. “As the legal sports betting market continues its inevitable expansion, we are excited by the prospect of these high-profile bets to garner mainstream attention and demonstrate our customer-first priority.”

DraftKings at Scarlet Pearl opened 16 November 2018 as the first collaboration between DraftKings and a land-based casino.
