$116 million guaranteed at PokerStars

2 Aug 2018

(PRESS RELEASE) -- One of the world’s most highly anticipated online poker series, the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), returns from 2-17 September, making PokerStars the only destination for online poker players this autumn. In total there will be more than $116 million guaranteed in prize pools across all global liquidity tournaments during the series, more than $70 million of which will come from WCOOP alone.

This makes this year’s WCOOP the biggest ever online tournament by prizepool guarantee. WCOOP offers 182 tournaments spread across 61 events, with tiered buy-in levels for each (Low, Medium, High), ranging from $2.20 to $25,000. The only exception is the Main Event at Medium and High only, and which boasts $1 million and $10 million guarantees at $55 and $5,200 buy-ins.

"Each year, players from around the world come together at PokerStars to battle it out in the WCOOP,” said Director of Poker Innovation and Operations, Severin Rasset. "The three-tier buy-in system that we have introduced this year means that everyone can enjoy the WCOOP action over 16 days, giving everyone a shot at becoming a PokerStars world champion of online poker.”

Seats into the $5,200 Main Event can be secured from limited edition satellites and Spin & Go’s:
  • In addition to satellites across a wide range of buy-ins, from 26 August to 16 September PokerStars will be running a daily $55 satellite, adding more than $114,000 in value with 22 $5,200 Main Event seats up for grabs over the 22 days.
  • $5 and $25 Spin & Go’s, running from 23 August to 16 September, will award prestigious prizes including WCOOP tickets and entries to the $5,200 Main Event.
