Gladiator is a 5-reel 25-line video slot game that is based on the Academy Award winning (Best Motion Picture 2000) DreamWorks film Gladiator. The game presents the story of the film through the eyes of General Maximus, giving you a chance to relive the legendary story. Characters from Gladiator are used in themed symbols, and clips from the film are featured in the symbol and bonus animations.

The Gaming Experience and Features

In Gladiator, winning special Extra Scatter and Extra Wild symbols depends on your picks in the Coliseum Bonus round that precedes the Free Games feature. The Extra Scatter symbol wins when scattered anywhere on the reels and pays according to the original symbol\s paytable, multiplied by the total bet and the free games multiplier (if won in the Coliseum Bonus). The Extra Wild symbol is in place of the regular Wild symbol, except with regard to winning the Gladiator Bonus.

Gamble Feature
After a winning spin, the player has the option to double the winnings. Clicking the Gamble button opens the Gamble page where you can guess whether the next card will be red or black.

Special Symbols
Special symbols are regular game symbols that take on a special function for the duration of Free Spins or Free Games, and help to further increase your winnings in this feature.

Gladiator Bonus
The Gladiator Bonus is triggered when three Wilds (Gladiator Helmets) appear on reels 2, 3 and 4. This bonus feature requires no action from you ` it starts automatically in the bonus screen that appears on the three center reels. On the bonus screen, 9 gladiator helmets appear one by one, each revealing a prize amount. The value of each prize depends on the colour of the helmet -

Bronze helmet = 1x total bet
Silver helmet = 3x total bet
Gold helmet = 5x total bet

As the helmets are revealed, the sums are added up in the feature win total shown above the bonus screen.

Coliseum Bonus
The Coliseum Bonus is triggered when three or more scatters (Coliseums) appear anywhere on the reels. You win a fixed prize on the scatters (total bet ?win multiplier from paytable) and enter the bonus round.
In the Coliseum Bonus round, you pick the prizes that will be used in the Free Games feature. A grid of four rows and five columns is displayed to the you. Each row stands for one type of prize:

Free Games
The player can win up to 24 free games with up to 3x multiplier

Extra Scatter
Extra Scatter (possible values - Any of the royals; any of the 3 themed symbols: Gracchus, Proximo and Juba. Acts similarly to regular scatter, except three or more symbols are needed to win. Does not substitute scatter.
If Extra Scatter is a themed symbol, the same symbol will not occur on the Extra Wild row.

Extra Wild
Extra Wild (possible values any of the 5 themed symbols). Acts as a regular Wild symbol. Also substitutes Wild, except if the combination would trigger the Gladiator Bonus.
You start picking from the bottommost row, which grants free games. Winning any of the consecutive prizes depends on the pick.

Picks
If the selected stone only contains the prize (number or symbol), the bonus round continues with the player picking a prize from the next row. If the selected stone is marked Extra Pick, the bonus round continues with you picking an additional prize from the current row. Only the Free Games and Multiplier rows can contain stones that give extra picks.

If the selected stone is marked Column Up, the whole column opens automatically and you win all the prizes in the given column. No further picks can be made, the Coliseum Bonus round ends.

If the selected stone is marked Collect, all prizes won up to this point - including the Collect stone prize ` are collected and the Coliseum Bonus round ends.

When prizes have been picked, you enter the Free Games feature. During this feature you can win additional free games: each time the Commodus symbol appears on reel 3, three more free games are added to the remaining ones.

The Gladiator Bonus can also be won during Free Games; however, the free games multiplier does not apply to Gladiator Bonus wins.
The Coliseum Bonus cannot be re-triggered during Free Games.
