Rochester region at center of online gambling arrests

ROCHESTER -- An Ontario County man Joseph J. Fafone, who helped build BetOnline.com, continues to protest his innocence against charges related to Internet gambling, the Democrat and Chronicle reported.
Fafone, one of 30 others, was arrested last October on "bookmaking charges", according to the Democrat and Chronicle.
Authorities claim the gambling ring made $587 million, the report said
Fafone, who was arrested at the airport on his way to Panama, faces court next month, The Democrat and Chronicle reported.
BetOnline.com are legally licensed as a sports betting site in Panama, and would not comment on any activities that happened in the States, the company told the Democrat and Chronicle.
