British ColumbiaThe British Columbia Lottery Corporation offers online lottery games, interactive games, and sports action to residents of British Columbia. Online gaming includes casino games such as slots, blackjack, roulette, baccarat, craps, and poker. British Columbia is the first jurisdiction in North America to allow government-run online gambling. By legalizing online casino gambling, the province hopes to recover CAD $100 million that residents spend on illegal online gambling. The British Columbia Lottery Corporation launched Playnow.com, its first online gaming site, in July 2010. Within days of launch, the site was moved offline because of security issues. The site reopened in August of the same year, and joined the Canadian Poker Network in February 2011. Joining the poker network enables British Columbia residents to play poker against Québécois players from Espacejeux, the first online gaming site launched in Québec, in December 2010. The Canadian Poker Network, established in December 2010, is the first poker network in North America. BCLC PlayNow.com joins Loto-Quebec on Canadian Poker Network
Poker players in British Columbia and Quebec will now play together on the first regulated poker network in North America.
