BelizeThe online gaming industry is a relatively new industry in Belize and legislation has been introduced to attract serious investors. Online gaming licenses may be issued to businesses incorporated in Belize by the Online Gaming Licensing Committee, operating under the authority of the "Gaming Control (Online Gaming) Regulations of 2004." There are two types of licenses for gaming operators in Belize: 1. Domestic Gaming License: A Domestic Gaming License aimed at casinos operating within Belize. 2. Internet Gaming License: An Internet Gaming Program operating in the Export Processing Zone. Licenses are valid for 12 months, and an initial payment can cost between USD $50,000 and $100,000; this includes all government fees, work permits, and certificates needed to establish an operational company within Belize. A security deposit of USD $50,000 is also required to be applied to the payment of any wagers or wager fines that may be assessed by the Gaming Control Board during operation of the casino. An annual maintenance and compliance fee renewable each March costs USD $25,000. The initial process of obtaining a license can take three to six weeks. Online gaming sites licensed in Belize may not accept wagers from residents of Belize. In August 2007 the government of Belize released a Public Advisory of clandestine companies claiming to have been licensed in Belize when, in fact, Fulton Data Processing Limited and Sports Offshore Limited are the only two operators licensed there.
