Australian Capital TerritoryThe Australian Capital Territory (ACT,) along with Victoria, is an Australian jurisdiction whose Internet gambling legislation accords to the country's National Model, which stipulates that licenses granted in one state or territory receive reciprocal status in the other states or territories. The ACT’s Interactive Gambling Act 1998 establishes regulations of online gambling products in the territory but the Interactive Gambling Act 2001, a national law, supercedes the ACT law. As a result, the ACT Gambling and Racing Commission does not regulate online gaming services. Interactive casino gaming may be licensed through the ACT, but the license-holder may not offer bets or market to people located in Australia. Australian companies may not offer online gaming services. Internet sports wagering is viewed as an extension of land-based offerings and is dealt with separately. ACT awards three classes of bookmaking licenses -- sole traders, syndicates (as large as four people), and companies.
