Wisconsin Tribe, State Sign New Deal
WISCONSIN – As reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: "The Forest County Potawatomi will pay the state a previously owed $43.6 million casino payment and retain authority for an expanded array of casino games, under a revised casino compact that runs for 25 years instead of forever.
"Under negotiation for 18 months, the new deal includes a provision to require that the state and tribe will agree to have an arbitrator decide how the Potawatomi tribe should be reimbursed to cover potential losses if the Menominee tribe is allowed to build a casino in Kenosha, said Potawatomi Chairman Harold 'Gus' Frank.
"…In addition to paying the $43.6 million the Potawatomi owed the state for its fiscal year that ended in August, the same payment schedule with annual payments of 6% to 8% of casino net revenue is included in the new compact revisions…"
