LONDON, England -- William Hill will legally challenge the British government on online gambling tax, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Britain's Conservative Party propose to tax online gambling in England at a rate of 15 percent, the report said.

Many bookmakers moved offshore to avoid the tax, however the tax will now be charged on any company offering online gambling services to British punters, the Daily Telegraph explained.

William Hill contend the tax is illegal under European law, the report noted.
