Virginia Lottery ads win awards

20 Mar 2008

WASHINGTON, DC -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- For their work as creators and producers of two TV advertising spots entitled "Neighbors" and "Still at Home," Qorvis Communications and partner SmithGifford have been awarded two 2008 Advertising Club of Metropolitan Washington ADDYs. The TV spots were created by Qorvis and SmithGifford on behalf of the Virginia Lottery to promote its "New Year's Millionaire Raffle" and "Holiday Scratchers" lottery tickets. Qorvis also received a Citation of Excellence for its interactive work with the Kennedy Krieger Institute.

The 2008 ADDY Awards were presented on March 6 by the Advertising Club of Metropolitan Washington at the "Battle of Awesomeness" at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. The DC Ad Club received nearly 850 entries from 75 companies; a total of 104 ADDYs and 146 Citations of Excellence were awarded.

"We put together a dream team when we went after the Virginia Lottery account a year ago," said Qorvis Managing Director Bill Replogle. "These awards show that we not only can win significant business with this team, but also create great work."

While Replogle put together the team and leads it, he is quick to give credit for the spots "Neighbors" and "Still at Home" to the folks at SmithGifford. Matt Smith and Bruce Gifford were the creative directors. SmithGifford's Drew Magary was the senior writer and Dana Cole was the producer.
