UK Team Plans Groupe Partouche Takeover
UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the UK Telegraph: "Two British venture capitalists have teamed up in an attempt to take control of Groupe Partouche, one of France's biggest casino operators, in a deal valuing the company at up to €1billion (US$1.19 billion).
"Permira, which last week made a takeover approach to WH Smith, and Cinven, the joint owner of the Gala casinos group, are in talks with the controlling shareholder, the Partouche family. The Paris-listed group was founded 30 years ago by Isidore Partouche, whose family still owns around two thirds of the business.
"…Mr Partouche, 73, opened talks with venture capitalists and these are believed to have led to wider discussions with Permira and Cinven over buying the family's stake and taking control of the group. Partouche has told investors that, if the talks are successful, Permira and Cinven will make an offer to the minority shareholders…"
