Turning Stone agreement approved

NEW YORK -- As reported by the Syracuse Post-Standard: "Turning Stone's 5,000 jobs are safe now that the federal government has upheld its approval of the agreement that allowed the casino to open 14 years ago, Oneida Indian Nation leader Ray Halbritter told casino employees Wednesday.
"...The federal Department of Interior on Wednesday reaffirmed its 1993 approval of the agreement, or compact, that allowed the casino to open. The compact between the state and the tribe had been declared invalid by New York state courts, prompting Interior officials in March to reconsider the original approval.
"...That finally ends the controversy about Turning Stone's legality, Halbritter said..."
