Rebecca Liggero

Rebecca Liggero loves meeting new people and traveling – perfect qualities for someone who has won friends and influenced people in the worldwide online gaming community.

After graduating from Bates College with a degree in psychology, Rebecca spent four years in Washington, DC, working in relationship management, dreaming all the while about someday making it big in online gaming. After turning down an opportunity to live in New Zealand, she moved back to Boston and signed on as Senior Account Manager for Casino City – the beginning of a dream come true!

Rebecca’s work on behalf of Casino City (and later for the GPWA as well) took her to trade shows and conferences everywhere – Amsterdam, Barcelona, Costa Rica, Montreal, London, Las Vegas, Macau and many other ports of call – and along the way she began chronicling her incredible around-the-clock adventures in a wildly entertaining and industry-savvy weekly column that quickly became – and still remains – must reading for everyone who is anyone in online gaming. Following almost three years with the Casino City team, Rebecca spent a few months at Everest Affiliates where she was the Brand Manager of the affiliate program. While working on “the other side,” she realized that she truly missed her weekly column and the affiliate side of the business and decided to return to the Casino City family.

One and a half years later, Rebecca resigned from Casino City and joined industry icon Calvin Ayre to serve as the Bodog Global Brand Ambassador and the head on-site reporter for the online gambling industry tablog, CalvinAyre.com. In her new capacity, Rebecca continues to travel the world, and when asked where she is based, her response is usually "on an airplane."

Rebecca's Recommendations - February 2, 2007

Home at last. Until 2pm this afternoon that is...off to Miami for some quality time with Chris, Jenny, the Hawaiian Tropics girls, and god knows who else. Sure, you might think I'm crazy to plan a party filled weekend right after a 10 day trip to London, but would you pass up Super Bowl weekend in Miami with Jenny Woo? I think not. In the meantime lets talk about London. Rather than providing you with a day by day summery, I'm going to tell you some of the lessons I learned in that crazy city.

1)Never begin a 10 day trip to London with drinking 2 bottles of wine on the night of arrival. See, the problem here is that I came a few days early to spend some time with my girl from Spin Palace and Ruby Fortune. Naturally she planned a big night out for me and her entourage of girl friends, and as a result, an unnecessarily large amount of wine was consumed. Like 20 bottles.

2)I am obsessed with South Africans. The Poker Share, Casino Share and Grand Monaco boys treated a bunch of affiliates to a fabulous dinner and I swear to god, everyone in the room was South African (and Jewish) except for me. The accent...the friendly personalities...the passion for their country...I'm obsessed!

3)I am not number one on Jenny Woo's "to do" list. What the hell is that all about? Ok, fine, maybe Michael Caselli has long flowing hair, fashionable outfits, and boundless energy, but so do I! This is ridiculous. At least I came in at number 5.

4)London needs more cabs. I mean seriously. It is IMPOSSIBLE to find a cab at the end of the night! Does London want to torture us or something? WHY IS IT SO HARD to provide enough cabs for intoxicated, ridiculously tired, and very cold people? WHY?

5)Matt Damon is just as hot in person as he is in the movies. Yes, I saw Matt Damon in London. He was sitting two tables away from us at the Fat Duck, the number one restaurant in the entire world. Why was I at the Fat Duck? Take a look at lesson #6...

6)I have made some very good and very generous friends through the online gaming industry. These friends of mine treated me to the Fat Duck, the number one restaurant in the world, and Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's, the number three restaurant in the world. At the Fat Duck we indulged in the 17 course (!!!) tasting menu with wine pairing, complete with a liquid nitrogen "cooked" dessert.

7)Bodog men don't take "no" for an answer. No, I don't mean it like that- I mean when it comes to tequila shots. My handsome Greek Bodog friend MADE ME take a shot- I don't know how he did it- it just sort of happened.

8)Jenny Woo likes to lick my face. What can I say? You can see for yourself in my picture below. You know what else? Some people think that Jenny Woo works for Casino City. Right! Sure! I bet Chris Costigan would be pleased to hear that one.

As you can see, I had some fun while learning quite a bit in London. I do not want to mislead you though, my trip to London was more than one big party. There are many changes occurring throughout the industry, affecting US players and payment methods especially, so the days were spent trying to figure out solutions that will benefit and please everyone. The coming months will bring about lots of changes, but something I do know for sure is that this industry will not disappear. For all my US players, please hang in there, and if worst comes to worst, you can always move to the UK. Just kidding. We'll be fine. JennyandBec
