PokerStars announces next two NAPT stops

26 Jan 2011

(PRESS RELEASE) -- PokerStars.net is proud to announce the first three stops of the North American Poker Tour's second season. The first event took place from January 8-14 at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), where Galen Hall walked away from the Bahamas $2.3 million richer after conquering a field of 1,560 players in the $10,000 Main Event. The full festival featured 48 events over 11 days, from January 6-16.

The next two festival stops will return to two popular venues from NAPT Season 1. First up will be Los Angeles, where the $5,000 Main Event will take place from March 5-10 at The Bicycle Casino. There will be a full festival format (see below) and both the Main Event and Bounty Shootout will be filmed at The Bicycle Casino for later broadcast on ESPN2 (US), TSN (Canada) and other networks globally.

Kelley O'Hara, Director of Marketing at The Bicycle Casino, said: "This year's NAPT LA event is eagerly anticipated by the players and the Bike is going all out to make this a memorable tour stop. The nine-day NAPT event will take centre stage in our March poker festival, which kicks off February 25. Players will find a game or tournament of their choosing, every day, every night."

Then, from April 9-13, players will head back to Mohegan Sun, Connecticut, for the $5,000 Main Event, which in 2010 was the scene of Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst's $750,000 win. This tour stop will, like LA, also feature a wider event schedule (TBC), with both the Main Event and Bounty Shootout also being filmed for broadcast.

NAPT side events

Excited about the return of the NAPT, Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu said: "In addition to the $5,000 NAPT Main Events, there will be plenty of side event action. With no-limit side events up to $2,000, a mixture of turbo, bounty and heads-up tournaments, along with Omaha and 8 Game, there will be something for everyone during NAPT Season 2."

Negreanu continued: "I'm also very happy to see the return of the incredibly popular Bounty Shootout events. This year the BSO format has been standardized as $10,000 buy-in double-shootout nine-handed open events capped at 81 players. These really put players to the test, and result in great television!"
