Ontario official can't investigate lottery complaint
ONTARIO -- As reported by the CBC News: "Ontario's new gaming regulator says it cannot investigate a complaint involving a lottery terminal in Brampton because it doesn't yet have proper authority.
"The case involves Jim Elliott, who said his local Shoppers Drug Mart lotto machine spat out a validation stub that failed to give him his full prize.
"The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. insisted the July 29 incident was a result of human error and there are no problems with its computerized ticket validation system.
"It appears Elliott's ticket trouble stems from a young clerk who got confused putting several tickets through the lottery terminal, OLG spokeswoman Teresa Roncon said Tuesday.
"...Elliott said he remembers the incident differently, and insisted the machine clearly showed an incorrect prize.
"...Despite all the regulations announced in the wake of the scandal, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario's new oversight powers don't actually kick until next year, spokesman Ab Campion told CBC News..."
