Morongo Casino Celebrates Grand Opening

MORONGO RESERVATION, California – As reported by the California Press Enterprise: "It's the largest tent structure of its kind ever built in the Northern Hemisphere.

"And tonight and Thursday, thousands of VIP guests will party at invitation-only events inside what looks like a giant greenhouse longer than a football field.

"…It's all part of a kickoff for Friday's grand opening of the new $250 million Morongo Casino, Resort and Spa. The 27-story resort with its hotel, sky bar and slots sits on 44 acres between Palm Springs and Banning, along Interstate 10.

"…Costs for the event are estimated at about $1 million, said event coordinator Waltona Manion.

"…Tonight's sit-down dinner for 2,000 people at Celebration Hall will feature entertainment by 'Tonight Show' host Jay Leno and rock legend Carlos Santana. The evening also includes a history of the Morongo Band of Mission Indians and a celebration of tribal sovereignty.
